Home Guides FAQ How we rank

How this works, in full

Every rule we apply, written down. If you run a company listed here and think something is wrong, the correction process is at the bottom and we would rather hear from you than stay wrong.

What we actually do

We collect every foundation repair company operating in a city from public business listings, then open each company's own website and read it. Seven attributes get recorded, and only what the company states publicly:

  • Years in business
  • Whether a warranty is offered, and its stated length
  • Whether that warranty transfers to the next owner
  • Which pier methods they install - pressed concrete, steel, bell-bottom, helical
  • Whether financing is available
  • Whether they work from a structural engineer's report
  • A verified street address, where the company has commercial premises

Nothing is inferred, estimated, generated or bought. Across all four cities that produced 331 listed companies out of 1022 reviewed.

A blank is never rendered as "No"

An empty warranty or financing cell means the company doesn't state it publicly - not that the answer is no. Plenty of good contractors offer things they never put on a website. Printing "No" against a real business's name would be publishing a false claim about it, so we don't. It also means the blanks tell you what to ask on the phone.

What gets a company excluded

ReasonWhy
No working websiteNothing to verify. We won't publish claims we can't check against a source.
Website is only a booking widgetA scheduling page on someone else's platform is not a company website. There is nothing on it to read.
Too few reviewsToo little signal to rank fairly, in either direction.
Outside the areaChecked on area code, city and the address on their own site - together, not separately.
Lead-generation networkOne operator running dozens of city-named microsites with identical content. That is one business, not thirty.
Duplicate listingOne company often holds several map listings with different tracking numbers. We merge them on domain.
Not a foundation companyHVAC firms, roofers, handymen and landscapers surface in these searches by the second page. They're removed.

How ranking works

Four inputs, fixed weights, applied identically to every company:

InputWeightNote
Years in business30The heaviest input, and only counted where we found a figure. 220 of 331 companies have one.
Review volume25Log-scaled, so a 3,000-review firm doesn't bury a 300-review one.
Google rating20Deliberately the smallest. See below.
Has a working website15Flat.

Rating is the smallest lever on purpose. The average across all four cities is 4.77, and 79% of companies sit between 4.7 and 5.0. Ranking on stars would order the site almost at random and tell you nothing. That is the entire reason this site is a comparison table rather than a leaderboard.

Tiers

Tier A means the company has a working website, a substantial review base, and publishes at least three of the seven attributes. 138 of 331 companies qualify. Tier B is everything else that met the bar to be listed at all. A tier is a measure of how much a company publishes about itself - not a judgment of workmanship, which we have no way to assess.

What we can't tell you

  • A blank transferability cell means silence, not a no. We record that a company states its warranty transfers. We have no way to record a company stating that it does not, so the percentage is a floor, not a disclosure rate.
  • We record what companies publish, not whether it's true. A stated lifetime warranty is a stated lifetime warranty. Read the actual document before signing.
  • Some tenure figures come from a company's own marketing copy rather than a verified business profile. Those are marked unverified where we show them.
  • Multi-location brands carry review counts that aren't local. A national franchise's rating often aggregates every branch in the country. We label franchises so you can see which listings this applies to.
  • Details go stale. Companies change hands, warranties, and pricing. Everything here was last checked in August 2026.
  • We are not engineers and we have never seen your house. Nothing on this site is a recommendation for a specific contractor or a specific repair.

How we make money

Requesting quotes through the form on a city page connects you with Networx, a third-party matching service, and we may be paid a referral fee. That fee is identical whichever company you end up choosing, and it plays no part in how any listing is ranked.

The line we will not cross

Ranking position is not for sale. Order is decided by the four weighted inputs above and nothing else. No contractor can pay to move up, to push a competitor down, or to be removed against our judgment.

That is a narrower promise than "we take no money from anyone," and it is deliberate. This site may carry advertising, or offer contractors a featured placement, at some point. If it does, anything paid for will be labeled as advertising where it appears, will sit outside the ranked lists rather than inside them, and will not change the order of a single row. A reader should never have to wonder whether a position was earned or bought - which is exactly why the promise is about the ranking rather than about our revenue.

Corrections

If you run a company listed here and something is wrong - a warranty term, a phone number, a service area, an address - tell us and we'll fix it. Point us at the page on your own site that shows the correct information and it goes in on the next update; we treat your own site as the source of record, because that is where every value here came from.

We'll also remove a listing on request from the business owner, no reason needed and nothing asked in return.
